People & culture

We believe a diverse and inclusive workforce is essential to our success.

People are our power

Come grow with us

Rakuten Americas is proud to embrace diversity and inclusion (D&I) and promote these values within the company and among the communities we serve. We recognise this means empowering our people by embracing our differences and what brings us together in a common cause.

Executive D&I Steering Committee

D&I efforts need to happen at every level of an organisation. The Executive D&I Committee spearheads those efforts by implementing policies and practices that empower our diverse communities.

I’ve always understood the power of connecting with people from all walks of life. In both my personal and work history, I’ve always sought to create environments where various personalities can get to know each other and experience the degrees of life, love, and humanity that exists in all of us. It’s been an amazing opportunity to bring this innate passion into my role as Executive Sponsor of the Rakuten Americas Black Employee Alliance. Creating new frameworks and systems that proactively advocate for and build connections with the Black community, from individual consumers to business owners, is why I keep pushing forward and will continue to be a diversity, equity and inclusion change agent.

Employee Diversity & Inclusion Committee

We believe that integrating D&I into everything we do is not just the right thing to do – but is critical to driving D&I engagement for our employees, partners and communities. We’re committed to bringing this to life through strategic actions with measurable goals.

Black Employee Alliance

Advocating for effective policies and systematic frameworks that foster the growth and development of black employees. We also highlight opportunities for the Rakuten ecosystem to engage with consumers and business owners within the black community.

Women@Rakuten

Advance, educate, unite and inspire. The Women@Rakuten group focuses on driving equity via programs and resources to further empower women in their roles at Rakuten and beyond.

Pride+

A diverse workplace values and celebrates the voices of LGBTQIA+ employees. Pride+ upholds this through meaningful inclusion, enhanced visibility, greater unity and connection, and positive representation at all levels of the business.

Asian, Pacific, Islander & Desi Alliance

Supporting Asian, Pacific Islander and Desi employees and inspiring inward and outward impact through talent development, awareness and advocacy, and external community work.

RakAbility

RakAbility advocates for our people with disabilities, visible or invisible, their allies and caregivers to gather, share and create a better company for all.

Before joining Rakuten Advertising, I’d always been passionately involved in employee wellbeing – in particular pertaining to diversity and inclusion. As President of the Rakuten Americas Pride+ employee resource group, I can really effect change by achieving a culture of true inclusion – one that values, celebrates, and encourages the diverse LGBTQQIP2SAA voices within the organization. Upholding and centering my community, providing an identity-affirming professional network, and aiding the recruitment, development, and retention of LGBTQIA+ colleagues make my day-to-day work life all the more meaningful.
